ahhhh. we landed. despite losing track of a castmate at the train station and fearing her abduction, flying overnight and losing 6 hours of my life (took off at 10pm, landed at noon the next day), and our lighting designer getting detained in America for 2 days because his passport was too worn down, we have made it. it has been insanely wonderful so far. mid 60's during the day with only a small spot of rain in the first 4 days, everything is a green as Oz, the people are patient and kind, and the haggis...oh how i love haggis!!! i drink English tea in the morning, go for a run down the canal that connects to the Firth of Forth, come back to our city flat, shower up, eat a lot of bran and oats (they are popular in these parts), walk around the base of the castle in awe, go do a wonderful piece of theatre for appreciative audiences, then grab a pint with my castmates and new UK pals. those are my days. i love it here.
unfortunately, this wireless service is a bit spotty so i don't have much time to go into detail, but i finally got some pictures up. the first three are of Edinburgh Castle which is a block away from our flat and surrounded by a fantastic park - we can see it from our kitchen and living room windows. the rest are all taken within a 4 block radius around our neighborhood. i PROMISE there will be a lot more later. but for now...enjoy these:

i saw your mom at good 'ol cvs in mahomet, and she told me about this blog (then e-mailed it to me after i think i pretty much begged her to - sad, i'm sure). i'm so insanely jealous that you're able to spend so much time in edinburgh! scotland (and the lake district) may just be my all-time favorite place in the world, and i'm in love with edinburgh -- it's so dark and gothic, isn't it?! your pics are great, so keep them coming, and be sure to add me to your e-mail list; i'd love to hear more about your time there (and anywhere - i'm a fan, a big fan). shaunagough@mchsi.com

I do hope that by "new UK pals" you are referring to J.K. and her family. Otherwise your first 4 days were a complete waste.
